From Cigel, Slovakia to Bojnice Castle ( right of center) The castle was owned by Hungarian nobility for more than 1000 years until it was purchased in 1939 by Czech entrepreneur, Jan Bata, owner of Bata shoes. Bata was the last private owner. After the war, the Czechoslovak government confiscated the castle. National Geographic has named Bojnice Castle as one of the 10 most beautiful castles in Europe.
