Orion Nebula - 1300 light years away

Taken through a telescope on the patio of my house in Saudi Arabia. The Orion Nebula hangs from Orion's Belt, three prominent stars in a line. The Orion Nebula can be seen with the naked eye. It is 1300 light years away and 30 to 40 light years across. Made of gas and dust, the Orion Nebula is a nursery for newly forming stars. The cluster of 4 stars at its center are young stars known as the Trapezium.
