Fountain head

The city of Pompeii, Italy was destroyed in a violent eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Now a World heritage Site, you can wander the ruins near Naples at will. On a number of streets I found fountains with huge tanks where people would come to draw water for themselves and animals. I climbed into one of the tanks to take this image. The column behind is about 5 meters high and I imagine it once housed a device for lifting buckets of water.
