Steve Rice from Olympia, United StatesVery interesting. That is one huge beehive. 4 Aug 2008 5:05am @Steve Rice: Thank you, Steve. @Cia: Thank you, Cia. Kylie Greenan from Richmond, AustraliaThis is an awesome shot Michael, I would love to know how you edited this, it looks like it is HDR? The colour whilst soft, is so indepth and the foreground detail is exquisite. 4 Aug 2008 5:30am @Kylie Greenan: Thanks, Kylie. Yes, I felt it had an HDR look too although it isn't one. Tt is edited basically by making separate layers for highlights and shadows, curves, solid color fill layer (to soften and mute colors), color burn and dodge and finally sharpening. Play in Photoshop until you get the look you want. dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, United Stateslove the amazing texture from the criss-crossing of all the branches -- the thin, worn out blue paint is just striking! marvelous! 4 Aug 2008 6:02am @dj.tigersprout: Thanks so much, Jaycee. Erik from Amersfoort, NetherlandsVery nice shot, the blue of the little house is screaming like her I am... please look at me... 4 Aug 2008 6:33am @Erik: Perhaps the blue has a bit too much pop. Thanks for commenting, Erik. Mirko Herzner from Mühlheim am Main, GermanyIt has something of a painting to me. The branches look like random dashs of color. Cool one! 4 Aug 2008 6:59am @Mirko Herzner: Thank you, Mirko. I was hoping for a painting-like effect. Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaIt has a silky feeling. Almost as if someone painted this lovely scene on silk. Gorgeous blue against the mottled background. I would have never guessed it to have anything to do with bees. It is gorgeous. 4 Aug 2008 7:12am @Marion: Thank you, Marion. I enjoyed your comment and was hoping for a painting-like feeling. @saeed: In summer it would be full of honey. thank you, Saeed. MadScientist from Düsseldorf, GermanyAlmost too much detail here ;-) Love the bluish and grey tones! 4 Aug 2008 7:53am @MadScientist: Thanks so much, MS. Judy from Brooksville-Florida,, United StatesThe art of beekeeping is wonderful and without it we wouldn't have the delicious honey. Over here we are having bee problems: 4 Aug 2008 9:17am @Judy: Great information, Judy. thanks. There was a disease affecting bees in Europe last year but the populations in Slovakia were spared the worst of it. Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaHow delightful, I love the blue tones painted on the wood, there's something charming about it, something like a fairy tale :) 4 Aug 2008 10:15am @Lorraine: I felt so too. Thanks for the kind words, Lorraine. Betty from New Jersey, United StatesI love the pale blue in the winter woods! Wonderful post processing work, Michael! Well done! 4 Aug 2008 11:16am @Betty: Thanks so much, Betty. @Peter Miller: Thank you, Peter. Looks so serene! 4 Aug 2008 1:02pm @Koushiro~光子郎: Many thanks, Koushiro. sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesThis is one of the largest bee hive houses I've seen. Thanks very much for the information, Sherri. @Ana Lúcia: Thank you very much, Ana Lúcia. @Shirin Moosavi: Thank you very much, Shirin. Marcie from United StatesVery desolate.
