This is an awesome shot Michael, I would love to know how you edited this, it looks like it is HDR? The colour whilst soft, is so indepth and the foreground detail is exquisite.

@Kylie Greenan: Thanks, Kylie. Yes, I felt it had an HDR look too although it isn't one. Tt is edited basically by making separate layers for highlights and shadows, curves, solid color fill layer (to soften and mute colors), color burn and dodge and finally sharpening. Play in Photoshop until you get the look you want.

It has a silky feeling. Almost as if someone painted this lovely scene on silk. Gorgeous blue against the mottled background. I would have never guessed it to have anything to do with bees. It is gorgeous.

The art of beekeeping is wonderful and without it we wouldn't have the delicious honey.
I like the fact that this is out in the 'woods' - and the color of the building is heavenly.
Over here we are having bee problems:
"Bees pollinate up to one third of our food plants, and in recent months, bee colonies have been mysteriously collapsing. Up to 70% of bees on the East coast have disappeared, and about 50% in other parts of the country." "The problem, called colony collapse disorder, already has hit beekeepers in 24 states, part of Canada, and several European countries. Many bees seem to disappear, with few to no bodies of dead bees found near the hives. The remaining bees, meanwhile, show mysterious symptoms."

@Judy: Great information, Judy. thanks. There was a disease affecting bees in Europe last year but the populations in Slovakia were spared the worst of it.

This is one of the largest bee hive houses I've seen. They're must smaller in America although the design is very similar.
