Paco Díaz from Palma de Mallorca, SpainImpressive image, difficult to imagine so narrow and high. 30 Jul 2008 5:07am @Paco Díaz: Thank you so much, Paco. ~Kylie~ from Richmond, AustraliaIn the thumbnails it looked like a mountain of coins, now I see it is a stack of wood... your poor wife Michael! She has worked very hard! I hope she's not afraid of heights :o) A grand stack of an image! 30 Jul 2008 5:32am @~Kylie~: My wife likes heights and is something of a daredevil. Thanks, Kylie. Steve Rice from Olympia, United StatesYou better keep that hard working wife. :) 30 Jul 2008 5:34am @Steve Rice: Very true. thank you, Steve. Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomAhh... a womans work is never done, and you helped by recording this wonderful image :-D 30 Jul 2008 5:46am @Observing: Yes, that's my job. thanks, Mike. Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesI must 'second' Steve Rice's suggestion: Keep her. 30 Jul 2008 6:03am @Stephen Phillips: Thank you, Stephen. Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, FranceUn point de vue qui rend ce tas de bois impressionnant... il va pouvoir faire froid cet hiver !! 30 Jul 2008 6:19am @Evelyne Dubos: Merci, Evelyne. @Erik: Thank you, Erik. Kent from Kvänum, SwedenA good and different picture. It looks like a bridge of logs 30 Jul 2008 7:02am @Kent: Sort of. Thank you, Kent. Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaSuch color to these logs and I love the angle that you have taken the picture at. Makes for a very dramatic image. Kudos to your lovely wife for all her hard labor. Did you help her just a little bit?? 30 Jul 2008 7:46am @Marion: Actually I was in Saudi Arabia when the wood arrived so the answer I usually wiggle out with is "not exactly." Monique from Koh Samui, ThailandYou are expecting a really cold winter ... my goodness what a job your wife did! I really like the depth in this picture, great colors and composition! 30 Jul 2008 7:51am @Monique: It's always cold here in the winter. And thanks for the really great comment, Monique. dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, United Statesvery impressive! seem like a heck of a lot of work! i feel hot just thinking about it! but i guess that is the point -- come winter, you either feel warm or freezing! looks like this year, you guys will feel very warm indeed! excellent angle and pov! 30 Jul 2008 8:13am @dj.tigersprout: Thank you, Jaycee. In a cold climate, a pile of wood is like wealth. It means warmth and a beautiful atmosphere for the coming winter. MadScientist from Düsseldorf, GermanyWill it be a *very* cold winter? Do you know more? You know, gas prices are still raising and... ;-) 30 Jul 2008 8:16am @MadScientist: I haven't heard any forecasts for the winter. But gas prices are going through the roof in Slovakia. So we try to use as little gas as possible. With wood, you are not so much at the mercy of the profiteers, especially if you can find your own wood. Many thanks, MS. Jason Kravitz from Brussels, Belgiumthat is a serious pile - I like the perspective you used for this image, it looks like a pier going out into the water 30 Jul 2008 8:26am @Jason Kravitz: Thank you, Jason. I really appreciate your imaginative interpretation. Carlos Palma from San Juan, PhilippinesLol! love the the perspective too. I thought it was really a pier! love it. perfect cropping! 30 Jul 2008 9:14am @Carlos Palma: Thank you very much, Carlos. Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanIt does look like a mountain, you found a great angle to carry on the illusion! And Marta should be congratulated for her artistic piling...the texture and colour patterns are of great effect! 30 Jul 2008 10:12am @Japanalia: Illusion is the right word and as usual, your perceptions are very astute. Thank you very much, Gabriela. Rui Silva from Leiria, PortugalGood perspective. The thumbnail seemed like a lot coin piles. But it's wood. Awesome! 30 Jul 2008 10:38am @Rui Silva: Thank you very much, Rui. Judy from Brooksville-Florida,, United StatesThis is wonderful, Michael, but then, so is your wife! I would enjoy seeing another view of this to put the height into perspective to the width of the pile. Are there 'stays' of some kind to keep the wood from sliding? I have to agree with Kylie - I too, thought coins when looking at the thumbnail. 30 Jul 2008 10:49am @Judy: I agree with you. Marta does a good job at piling because she has the patience and eye to keep the pile from falling down. There are no stays because as Gabriela pointed out, this is actually an illusion. Many thanks, Judy. Craig from Vacaville, California, United StatesCool! A fire log pathway to the sky! 30 Jul 2008 11:21am @Craig: A great interpretation. Thank you, Craig. Marcie from United StatesWoW! This is a truly impressive piece of handiwork. Love your perspective..the texture..the color..the detail. Nice! 30 Jul 2008 11:38am @Marcie: Thank you so much, Marcie. MJ from Delaware, United StatesI am glad that you are good at your job so that we can all see how hard your wife works.... I thought at first it was fungus or coins... execellent shot.... 30 Jul 2008 11:53am @MJ: Many thanks, MJ. Especially on behalf on my wife. @Cia: Many thanks, Cia. sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesA very unusual and impressive image. Looks like a pathway into the sky. 30 Jul 2008 1:05pm @sherri: Thank you, Sherri. it is really just an illusion. Lorraine from CanadaWhich proves to me that the pyramids were indeed build by humans, way to go Mrs.... and how wonderfully you photographed it Michael, it's a delight! 30 Jul 2008 1:14pm @Lorraine: We were attempting a pyramid out of wood LOL. Many thanks, Lorraine, for your fun comment. hugo poon from hong kong, Hong KongWow, how beautiful, wonderful angle, lighting and colours!! Truly envy you... the piling is a work of art.:-) 30 Jul 2008 2:17pm @hugo poon: Thank you, Hugo. Yes, piled wood can be very interesting. @Ana Lúcia: thank you, Ana Lúcia. Rob from Mount Joy, United StatesToo funny... I suppose you couldn't pull one from the bottom on that pile ;) 30 Jul 2008 5:26pm @Rob: Would be dangerous. Although this is actually an illusion. The pile is really about 6 feet high. Thanks, Rob. _____ H o M o _____ from Tehran, Irannice perpective by cycle shape, good object & photo 30 Jul 2008 6:25pm @_____ H o M o _____: Thank you, HoMo. @Pascale Kisilak: Merci, Pascale. Tracey from White Hall, United StatesYou slave driver you ;0) Somehow I am guessing this is an optical illusion! Love the humor in it! 30 Jul 2008 9:32pm @Tracey: Great guess. It was actually taken in the daylight of our wood against the wall. The image was rotated and all detail but the wood was removed. Then a dark night-like background and stars were added. It was quite a lot of work but fun. Marta did actually do the piling of wood while I was in Saudi Arabia. She has the patience to do a good job so it won't fall down. Many thanks, Tracey. @Rags: thank you, Rags. photaouf from Paris, FranceGreat natural perspective and nice composition.... 30 Jul 2008 10:47pm @photaouf: Thank you so much for commenting. Glad it held your attention. @Marie: Merci beaucoup. tom from Frankfurt, GermanyThis perspective is fantastic. Seems like it reaches the stars. 4 Sep 2008 6:38pm @tom: A fun illusion.
