amy from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaThe b/w version really works better for this... has more depth, I think. The colour is great and shows an amazing vista but I do prefer the b/w. 4 Jul 2008 5:32am @amy: Thanks, Amy. I actually waiver between the two, without coming to any definite favorite. Koushiro~光子郎 from Singapore, SingaporeI kinda prefer the coloured version... The composition of the sky is just amazing! Although the b&w one works nicely here too! 4 Jul 2008 6:01am @Koushiro~光子郎: Thanks for commenting, Koushiro. Shun from Mühlheim am Main, GermanyNow I am clicking back and forth trying to figure out which version I prefer. I think I am going with Amy. The colored version is a bit less special than b/w. Still a very nice shot... P.S. I did not speak with my mom yet to ask about the castle... :-) So I still can't tell you if I have been there. 4 Jul 2008 6:01am @Shun: Thanks, Mirko. My wife preferred the b/w too although she is usually more into color. It would be fun if you have been to the castle. Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaI knew the clouds would be beautiful in the color shot. It's like comparing apples and oranges, they (the two pictures) are both beautiful in their own way. I love this in color and I loved it in b&w too. 4 Jul 2008 6:19am @Marion: Thank you, Marion. For the balanced comment and for the suggestion to post the colored image. Mike from Lichfield, United KingdomIt's a breathtaking view. Wonderful picture. I think in this instance the colour works better. 4 Jul 2008 6:48am @Mike: Thanks, Mike. I appreciate that. @Ekaputra Tupamahu: Thank you, Ekaputra. Rhys from United Kingdombeing a B&W freak I think I prefer the previous, I think its a contrast thing, (not that this is a bad image though!). 4 Jul 2008 7:47am @Rhys: Thanks, Rhys. B/W certainly has a strong appeal. @Craig: Thank you, Craig. @Eleftheria!: Thanks so much, Eleftheria. Chris Chisu from Seattle, United StatesI just think is paradise...color or no color...lol 4 Jul 2008 10:09am @Chris Chisu: Now that's a great comment. Thanks, Chris. Home should always be paradise. António Pires from Lisbon, PortugalA bit surprisingly I prefer the colour version. When this happens I try to understand the "whys" of my preference. The photos consist of three parts, the roof, the valley and the sky. In the b&w my attention is attracted by the sky, in this one by the valley. In colour all three elements are balanced, in b&w I feel there is too much roof. I have a certain difficulty in saying this, for you are the only person who knows what is best representing what you saw. For me, looking only at the pictures, the b&w version with a small crop of the roof would be great (better than the colour one). 4 Jul 2008 10:40am @António Pires: Thank you, António. You have really thought out the why of your preference and I respect that. And thank you for your suggestion concerning the roof in the b/w version. @Ron: Thank you, Ron. I really appreciate that. Betty from New Jersey, United StatesI believe I prefer the color version with the emphasis on the valley, it has more depth. To my eyes... 4 Jul 2008 11:57am @Betty: Thank you for expressing your preference, Betty. Rui Borges from Sintra, PortugalBeautiful colors and a fantastic scenario Michael! 4 Jul 2008 12:03pm @Rui Borges: Thank you very much, Rui. Tracey from White Hall, United StatesA beautiful scene, for sure, but I liked the b/w better. I tend to lean towards b/w anyway! 4 Jul 2008 1:07pm @Tracey: As do many photogs these days, it seems. and completely understandable. Thanks, Tracey. MadScientist from Düsseldorf, GermanyWarm and serene. Interesting too, because Ian Bramham has published a landscape shot also in colour and B/W yesterday and today. 4 Jul 2008 2:33pm @MadScientist: Thanks, MS. An interesting coincidence. hugo poon from hong kong, Hong KongI really envy you your enjoying such a magnificent view... I love this just as much as the b&w!! 4 Jul 2008 4:09pm @hugo poon: Thank you, Hugo. I have been lucky to marry into a lovely little village in Slovakia. Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaI loved the b&w so much but the sky here is breathtaking, such a spiritual blue that I can't really like one more than the other, both are moody only the moods are different like comparing apples and oranges 4 Jul 2008 4:33pm @Lorraine: A great comment. Thank you, Lorraine. Ras from Plano, United StatesI am torn between the two, but still settling with the b/w although the sky is wonderful in this so maybe a half and half would please all. :) 4 Jul 2008 5:18pm @Ras: Great idea. thank you, Ras. standley from brou-sur-chantereine, FranceI really like both version Michael, but I have a slight preference for this one. 4 Jul 2008 6:50pm @standley: Many thanks, Standley. Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesWhat a beautiful valley you live in. I like the roof's textures in this shot, very much. 4 Jul 2008 9:10pm @Viewfinder: Many thanks, VF. @Saeed: Thank you very much, Saeed. Judy from Brooksville-Florida,, United StatesThis is wonderful also ...... and I think I prefer the color version. 5 Jul 2008 4:52am @Judy: A very good reason. thank you, Judy. Calusarus from St Sorlin en Valloire, FranceNice landscape. And the roof in the frame is an unsual idea, but a good one. Nice DoF till the castle : I like it. 5 Jul 2008 5:18am @Calusarus: Thank you very much, Frederic. Francesc B. from région parisienne, FranceYou have really "une belle vue" from your house... I like your composition. 5 Jul 2008 3:57pm @Francesc B.: Thank you very much. @Ina: Thanks so much, Ina. dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, United StatesLove this shot... although i think i do prefer it in b/w -- which is odd as i usually prefer color! :P Just clicked back to your original posting though... think there is more of a spacial effect in the b/w. none the less -- wonderful work!! 6 Jul 2008 2:57pm @dj.tigersprout: Thanks, Jaycee. It seems to be a split between members who like the color and those that prefer the b/w. |
