@bruno: Thank you, Bruno.
Michael, what are these homes made of. The window looks so small in what looks like an imposing structure. Great shadows and composition here.

@Marion: Thanks, Marion. A house like this would be made of stone mixed with mud brick. The walls could be 40 cm. thick.

@paris-émoi: Merci beaucoup, Francis.
Great one! The way the light and shadow are at a roughly 45 degree angle really dresses up this excellent photo. The textures are amazing, and the placement of the window in this composition is about as good as it gets.

@Viewfinder: Thanks, VF. That really is a well thought out and uplifting comment.
Beautiful how the wood stands out against the white walls.

@e.: Thank you, e.
VF said it best ... the composition is wonderful. With walls that thick, I'm wondering if the small window was to keep the the building warm in cold winters. It certainly wasn't to open and let cooling breezes flow through. We stayed in a private home in Austria with walls that were 3' thick (90 cm.), but with large windows because the heat could be oppressive in the summer.

@Judy: Thank you, Judy. Yes, the small windows would be to keep as much heat in during winter as possible.
Magnifique cadrage ! :-)

Very nice use of light, both with the symmetrical dark and white of the corners, and the sense of softness you get from the over-exposure in the lower half. Excellent work.

One of the most extraordinary window captures I've seen. I saw it in your archive and wanted to leave a comment. Took me a while to navigate back to it. Surely there's an easier method?
