Taken by my daughter, Floriana, after a camel race in Saudi Arabia. The camel is still lathered up from exertion. Nevertheless, Carla, the little girl, tugs the rope to pat the beast.

hoping the camel won't spit. Perhaps too dry from all that running. Precious shot.

@Betty: Thank you, Betty.
Wonderful photo. She captured many elements in this shot: great colors, nice composition, and the personalities of child and camel. A picture worth a thousand words! As my father would have said, "she's a chip off the old block!"

@Wizened Eye: That is very kind, Judy. thank you.
You're training your daughter well. Tell me, do children (and owners) love their camels the way we love horses, dogs and cats?
30 May 2008 6:23am
@Judy: Somehow I don't think so. They are treated rather badly. Many thanks, Judy.
A beautifully composed shot, Floriana ... thanks for sharing your talent!

@Marie: Merci, Marie.
Camels seem to be able to retain an aloofness, a kind of detachment from what goes on. But I do like this determined attempt at communication!

@MadScientist: I think so too. thank you, MS.
Beau souvenir que Floriana a su capté, eh oui les chameaux ont leur caractère et n'ont pas toujours envie d'être caressés, même par une ravissante petite fille.
