Stylish steeplesPosted by Michael Skorulski (Cigel, Slovakia) on 24 May 2008 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio. Zurich, Switzerland's skyline is dominated by clock towers. On the left is the tower of Fraumunster Church dated 1732. In the distant center is St. Peter's Church which boasts the largest clock face in Europe at 28.5 feet (9 meters) in diameter

You found a great viewpoint here! 24 May 2008 12:08pm @vu@granby - Wolfgang: Thank you, Wolfgang. Judy from Brooksville-Florida,, United StatesYou captured this very well. I love the Fraumunster Church steeple's design; its really beautiful. I have a question, Michael. In a vertical shot, where there are multiple vertical lines, which one should be perpendicular to the bottom edge of the photo? I've never read any 'rule' on this, so I'm not sure. 24 May 2008 12:23pm @Judy: Thanks, Judy. Good question. I made the most dominant steeple perpendicular to the bottom. I know the others tip left but I couldn't fix those without throwing the main building out of alignment. I think I would always go with making the most dominant feature perpendicular. Ana Lúcia from Leiria, PortugalLOVE IT!!!! You should print it and hang it in a gallery somewhere. 24 May 2008 12:48pm @Ana Lúcia: That is so kind. thank you. martie from Okinawa, JapanGorgeous photo - I love the way you were able to capture the steeples! 24 May 2008 12:48pm @martie: Thanks so much, Martie. Please be my guest and copy and frame it if you would like. It would be a compliment. Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanThank you for kindly giving me permission, Michael! I did as you suggested and am going to frame it. 24 May 2008 3:29pm @Japanalia: A pleasure Gabriela. @Persian King: Thank you very much for your nice comment. Judy from Brooksville-Florida,, United StatesThank you, Michael, for your reply to my question. I like your use of the dominant feature as the item to make perpendicular. I've struggled with this at times and most often made the center of the photo my straight line. 24 May 2008 5:13pm @Judy: In the end, I guess you just decide what looks best after a few experiments. Andres from Plano, United StatesI like the colors and composition, the tree branch at the top right adds to the framing. 24 May 2008 8:29pm @Andres: Many thanks, Andres. standley from brou-sur-chantereine, FranceBeautiful composition.
