this is really quite surreal- in a good way. I'm sure there is some kind of witty caption to go with this but i can't think of one! Great crisp shot.

@Koushiro~光子郎: Bored for sure. Thank you, Koushiro.
On se demande lequel des 2 est la statue !! Très concentrés, ils sont très durs à se laisser distraire ces gardes, pourtant les gens aiment essayer, sans succès en général....

@Evelyne Dubos: Je conviens que le garde est comme une statue. Merci, Evelyne.

Good composition and tone distribution. It's amazing to see in the Royal Palace in Bangkok the classical (Greek) orders in the columns and pilasters. As Observing said, remnants...

With only the elephant, it will be a nice shot. But with the soldier, this composition is really well balanced.

@Oswegan: Yes. Thank you, O.
What a strange sight this presents! As Rhys started the this string by saying, it calls out for one of those witty captions from 'The Far Side'. Quite bizarre the more I look at it!

@Ronnie 2¢: Very bizarre to western eyes. Thanks, Ronnie.
Your detail is incredible with that delSol (is it a point and shoot)! Really exquisite detail at f/3.8. You are a master at documenting a travelogue!

@Ron: Thank you, Ron. Yes, the delSol is a point and shoot.
Superb shot. Great verticality in this shot. The policeman, the elephant leg and the column of the building are in line.

@Ian Bramham: Thank you, Ian. I appreciate that.
During the centuries the guards have become less impressive, although this one is more elegant, the force is represented by the elephant. Although it's Thailand, I see clear Greek elements in the building (pillars, tympanum, etc.), the same ornaments you also see in important buildings in Western countries. Nice shot!
15 May 2008 3:06am
@Illuci: Thank you, Erik. Yes, this is definitely a mixture of Eastern and Western architecture.
Who is more bored, the policeman or the elephant? Such neat, clean perfection in the subject, and such a crisp excellent photo. Nice work.
