Jubail, Saudi Arabia - I was looking for a place to kite landboard on the beach when I came across these pavilions facing out to sea. They had grass in front. The Saudis have picnics in them.

@thib: Thank you so much, thib.
Wonderful, these shades of green. I would have imagined Saudi Arabia to be all brown and yellow sand desert. But lo and behold, there is green.

@givethemhell: Yes, the green is there because hardy grass has been planted and has a regular water supply. Thanks, Eva.
Great composition and the coloring is very surreal - well done!!

@Chris: Thank you, Chris.
Interesting, I have never thought about replacing the color of a washed out sky. I like the effect here and I may have to try it at some point! Lovely composition with the foreground interest of the grass.

@Tracey: Thank you, Tracey. I almost don't mind the bands in the sky caused by compression either.
Cool! Love the saturated greens! Makes it looks so homey... ^^

It looks surnatural, something about the tint...I love the way the wind is carving the grass :)

I wondered about the green sky, as it looks somewhat like a pre-hurricane color. I see you used a little editing, which does add to the surreal feel. I love the blowing grasses in the foreground.

@John Maslowski: Thank you, John.
Nice one! With that green sky I'm wondering if a storm was in the making. In the mid-west US the sky sometimes turns green before tornados!
3 May 2008 10:30pm
@martie: The green was a tint added to a washed out sky. No storm threatening. Thank you, Martie.
This is just gorgeous Michael. I could get lost in that field. I can almost hear the wind rippling through the grasses.
