Fields - Cigel, SlovakiaPosted by Michael Skorulski (Cigel, Slovakia) on 12 March 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. I climbed up into a hunters' lookout to give you a view of what the hunters see. The sky was getting rather ominous and developing what we call "the wind cloud," a solid low bank of cloud over the mountains that means there will be high wind. And sure enough, yesterday evening the wind was whistling through the trees and sounded like the Arctic although it was actually quite mild.

Over here it is howling day and night. 12 Mar 2008 10:35am @givethemhell: Yes, it could have been part of that storm. But we also tend to have our own micro-climate here. Many thanks, Eva. Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesThe perspective here is really nice. I like the rolling landscape, and that you did not try to flatten the horizon in front of the mountain. 12 Mar 2008 10:43am @Viewfinder: Thanks, VF. This is the horizon as it looks from the lookout. Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanThe sky may be threatening...but look at that light in the field, dappled and warm! Thanks, Chris. @Earnest: Thank you, Earnest. drphoto from Newcastle upon Tyne, United KingdomNice image. I like the use of pylons as a lead in. The complimentary color contrast of the blues and golds works well. I have to respect your realism; I would have been temped to bost the colours more and I would have had to straighten that horizon! Dan 13 Mar 2008 12:16am @drphoto: Great comment. It really is a matter of taste. Thank you, Dan. Michael Rawluk from Prince George, CanadaThat is a very nice shot. The colours are terrific. 13 Mar 2008 1:27am @Michael Rawluk: Thank you, Michael. Steven from Chicagoland, United StatesDespite being in a hunter's lookout, the image captured still makes you seem fairly low to the ground. The slight tilt of the camera (or is that the lay of the land?) adds a little flair along with the disappearing telephone poles. 13 Mar 2008 2:50am @Steven: It is the lay of the land. I wanted to preserve that. Thank you for your great comment. Steven. Rags from Plano, United Statessuperb image. I love the way the sun has lit up the grass. It is like the sun's rays have turned the grass into a pretty golden color. 13 Mar 2008 5:01am @Rags: Thanks, Rags. I like your interpretation. alla from Toronto, CanadaI feel like I'm falling. Great curves! Love the colours too. B-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l 13 Mar 2008 1:26pm @alla: Thank you, Alla. It was a special kind of day.
