givethemhell from GermanyA family trip? This looks like a lovely adventure in Canada. 15 Feb 2008 6:20am @givethemhell: Yes, but not my family. They just live on the island and keep a canoe there. Canada is such a great place to do this. Thank you. @chris chisu: I don't blame you. It is excellent fun and exercise. Thanks, Chris. Gloria Alvarez from Barcelona-Menorca, SpainMichael, thanks for the gesture and your commentaries. I will use that Web of translation. This photo is charming reason why it means, the place, Canada, a place that it would enchant to me to know and by the image of pretty colors and reflections. Thank you, Craiger. martie from Okinawa, JapanI really like the red of the canoe against the blue, blue of the water. It's a great composition and an interesting look into a facet of lives of those who live near water. 15 Feb 2008 7:40am @martie: Yes. I felt envious that they could just come down to the sea and do this anytime they wanted. Thanks, Martie. @Hoopand: Thank you, Hoopand. tyan from Singapore, SingaporeThis is a really nice image!I like the way the wooden platform extends into the water and the blue of the water changing from a dark to light blue.I dont mind immersing my feet into the water but i guess i really am not the kind to fish,no patience,LOL 15 Feb 2008 8:17am @tyan: Yes, I'm not a great fisherman either. Thank you, Tyan. @Shenne: Thank you, Shenne. @badala: A nice comment. Thank you. Levine from Kuala Lumpur, MalaysiaMy dream is to have a lake behind my house and go canoe every evening with my friends and family. Enjoy nature. But sadly i live in a condominium :) LOL! 15 Feb 2008 9:28am @Levine: I hope you get your dream. Thank you, Levine. Teresa Durães from Montijo, Portugala beautiful photo. what was thinking the boy??? juping? :) 15 Feb 2008 9:36am @Teresa Durães: Thanks, Teresa. The boy was probably looking at some fish which were swimming near the dock. Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaSo refreshing, the mom and son activity is precious, there's a lot of good stuff in this photo ;) 15 Feb 2008 10:09am @Lorraine: Yes, it has a Hallmark feel to it. Thank you, Lorraine. Peter Miller from Lichfield, United KingdomGreat angle point of view, people totally unaware you are taking the shot (at least I think), great composition 15 Feb 2008 10:12am @Peter Miller: Thanks, Peter. Yes, they were unaware of me. Sriram from Chennai, IndiaLovely picture composition, tones and I can feel the serenity! The Gulf Islands are like a dream. Steven from Montreal, CanadaI like how you composed it and shot the dock diagonally. It's a pleasing image. 15 Feb 2008 10:54am @Steven: Thanks, Steven. It was a split-second shot before the people moved. Koushiro from Singapore, SingaporeI love the way your shot captured the ripples... It give a sense of motion that i really like... makes the water look so.... flowy... 15 Feb 2008 12:14pm @Koushiro: Thank you, Koushiro. That's a nice comment. Ron from Saint Louis, United StatesLove this shot, Michael. The light and shadow are beautiful here. 15 Feb 2008 12:37pm @Ron: Thank you, Ron. MJ from Delaware, United Stateswonderful shot...the colors ... everthing is perfect 15 Feb 2008 12:43pm @MJ: Many thanks, MJ. Judy from Brooksville-Florida,, United StatesThis is marvelous; I can only imagine what it looks like full-sized! 15 Feb 2008 12:59pm @Judy: It isn't my family. I just saw the people in what I thought was a great setting. Thanks, Judy. vu@granby - Wolfgang Prigge from Granby, QC, CanadaAh the canoe, another quinessential Canadian mode of transportation and a gift of the first nations to the world. For those who don't know the expression, "first nations" is the way the native Americans prefer to be called, they really don't like to be called Indians... Do I see right, even the dog has a swimvest? 15 Feb 2008 1:26pm @vu@granby - Wolfgang Prigge: You are correct. Excellent observation. Thank you, Wolfgang. Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesLooks like there's some big-time anticipation at the end of the dock. BTW, I really like that "first nations" term; hadn't heard it around here before, but I do prefer it to "native Americans" or other efforts at political correctness. 15 Feb 2008 1:30pm @Viewfinder: Thanks, VF. First Nations refers to indians generally from the west coast of Canada. alla from Toronto, CanadaIs this the same boat? With a BIRD capitan! :) I love the deep colours! 15 Feb 2008 2:06pm @alla: This one has a dog captain. Thanks, Alla. Michael Rawluk from Prince George, CanadaI miss canoe trips. My brother and I paddle around in the very distant past. 15 Feb 2008 4:46pm @Michael Rawluk: Sounds like great memories. Thank you, Michael. Steven from Chicagoland, United StatesThe pier seems daunting in comparison to the size of the canoe, giving me the feeling that the canoe can be easily tipped. The composition also works well, showing action, movement and placement in the entire frame. 15 Feb 2008 4:58pm @Steven: An excellent comment, Steven. Thank you. Tracey from White Hall, United StatesI love the detail in the water. You can see the vibration rings working out from the pier. 15 Feb 2008 5:10pm @Tracey: You're right. thank you so much. amy from Rocky Mountain House, CanadaI really like how you cropped this for the line of the canoe and dock.. which draws the eye up from the red jacket to the boy and the dog (with red jacket). It has a great symmetry. Really a fabulous image! 15 Feb 2008 5:14pm @amy: Thank you, Amy. I appreciate that analysis. @yiannis krikis: Thank you, Yiannis. @Hinah: Thank you, Hinah. Ken McCoy from Orlando-Daytona Beach, FL, United StatesYour light and color captures the crispness and clarity of the cool air on this lake. How did you do that: magic? Nice shot. 15 Feb 2008 8:19pm @Ken McCoy: Actually it's the Pacific Ocean, Ken. Salt Spring island is supposed to be on magical world lay lines. Perhaps that accounts for it. LOL. Thanks, Ken. @Camiller: Thank you, Camiller, for a most excellent comment. standley from brou-sur-chantereine, FranceVery nice capture. I like the colours tones 15 Feb 2008 8:42pm @standley: Thanks so much, Standley. @Frankie: Thank you, Frankie Ale from MexicoI just love how the trees reflect theirselves in the water, the colors look awesome! 15 Feb 2008 10:39pm @Ale: Many thanks, Ale e. from New York, NY, United StatesThat looks like so much fun. Wonderful colour tones in this photo 16 Feb 2008 1:06am @Sharon Y: Thank you, Sharon. Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanInteresting crop here, Michael, meant to bring forth the contrast of colours! the funniest thing is the dog to go canoeing!!! I saw one here, in Japan, on TV...a Labrador that was difficult to restrain, it wanted badly to play in the river water. 16 Feb 2008 5:17am @Japanalia: Yes, and he has a life preserver.
