Wolfgang Prigge from CanadaInteresting selective color, just the fingertip and the trombone... 23 Jan 2008 7:34pm @Wolfgang Prigge: Thanks for the comment, Wolfgang. A little experiment. Cynthia from Farmersville, United StatesWhat a neat picture! I really like how there are things reflected in the trombone. 23 Jan 2008 8:16pm @Cynthia: Thank you for looking, Cynthia. The people watching are reflected in the trombone. Pedro from Santander, SpainGreat framing and mood, carry on with this experiments 23 Jan 2008 8:22pm @Pedro: Thanks, Pedro, for the positive feedback. @Maysam: You are very kind. Thank you, Maysam. amy from Rocky Mountain House, CanadaSelective colouring is one of my fav tricks. Excellent choice for this image Michael! 23 Jan 2008 8:53pm @amy: Thanks so much, Amy. I appreciate the positve remark. Frankie from Boxmeer, NetherlandsI like this version with focus on the reflection in the trobone too ;-) 23 Jan 2008 8:55pm @Frankie: Thanks, Frankie. I thought I'd try something different. @Brites: Thank you, Brites Dean Francis from Midwest, United StatesMichael - Unique and noteworthy take on the brass. I liked the contrast in your entry about the brass and black clothing. Just as portrayed when you originally captured the photo, your edit is actually true to the inital impact you perceived that day. Good man. Try other edits once in a while (when you have time). 23 Jan 2008 10:35pm @Dean Francis: Thanks, Dean. I like your positive message and advice. MadScientist from Düsseldorf, GermanyCool! Hopefully the sounds he produced were as soft and shiny as the tone you left on the trombone :-) 23 Jan 2008 11:08pm @MadScientist: Thank you, MS. Your comment is heart-warming. @MGB: I appreciate that, MGB. Thank you. Camiller from Lisboa, PortugalExcellent portrait of the musician in the foreground. 24 Jan 2008 12:13am @Camiller: Thank you, Camiller. I'm glad you like it. Photographs by M.E. from Encino, United StatesI love the reflection on the trombone and selective use of color - well done on the pp! 24 Jan 2008 2:08am @Photographs by M.E.: Thank you so much, M.E. Susan Kronick from Toronto, CanadaDitto to all the above. How does one apply selective coloring? I have Adobe Photoshop Elements which I'm still learning. 24 Jan 2008 2:29am @Susan Kronick: Thanks, Susan. The selective color here was applied using a program called Picasa2 which you can download free from Google. Once you select the photo you want to work on, go to Effects, choose Focal B&W. You can adjust the size and sharpness of the area to which you want to apply color. Very easy. Picasa is also excellent as a photo organization tool. @Chinky: Thank you. I appreciate that, Chinky. Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanVery inspired to use the selective colouring! And the added soft glow works very well!Your processing gave character to the shot! 24 Jan 2008 10:26am @Japanalia: I really appreciate that, Gabriela. Thanks. Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaWhat did you do? Am i losing my mind (a good possibility) because yesterday this photo was much clearer and was in full colour and there were many more comments and I commented too, in fact I remember writing that there were so many, many stories in this photo, it was sensational....Every one left pretty much a similar message, most people favouring the lady in the back...Great have I started dreaming things up? Help me out here...did you change it from full colour to selective and lost all the comments? 24 Jan 2008 1:58pm @Lorraine: I'm afraid I did change it and of course, then I lost all the comments as well.. The comments said that the photo's focus was the lady in the back, which wasn't intended. Or as you mentioned, there were a number of points of interest, which wasn't intended either. In the end I decided to change it completely to what you see now, blurring the lady and background, leaving no doubt as to the focus. My wife actually doesn't like this version but I'm rather fond of it. So you're not losing your mind but I did lose your really super comment. Zahra from Tehran, Irani like everything in this photo. 24 Jan 2008 4:32pm @Zahra: You are very kind. Thank you, Zahra. @Porcsin: Thank you, Porcsin. Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaThanks I'm not crazy after all, if you really were intent on focusing on one single image, you did it well...but I still really love that colour version, I love all the life around that musical act...I'm glad I saw both... 24 Jan 2008 11:21pm @Lorraine: That's a super kind comment, Lorraine. Thanks so much. Illuci from Hurdegaryp, NetherlandsVery good, awesome capture of a musical event, the isolated color lets you hear the music!! 26 Jan 2008 11:28am @Illuci: I was hoping someone would make that observation. Thank you, Erik. @Ian: Thank you, Ian. |
