Carved door and flowersPosted by Michael Skorulski (Cigel, Slovakia) on 11 January 2008 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. When we lived in Oman, they had a wonderful tradition of carved doors on many of the houses. The carvings were often done by Kashmiri woodworkers from Pakistan. We asked one, whose work we liked, to carve door panels for our house in Slovakia. This is one of those panels.

Illuci from Hurdegaryp, NetherlandsHe really did a wonderful job, I admire these craftpeople! They are so involved with their work that they often see their lives also as a craft and develop wisdom and strength in viewing the ups and downs in life. You made a wonderul picture out of it by contrasting the sharp and clear wood lines with the red shadows of the real life flowers, thus reversing reality and fiction :) 11 Jan 2008 9:02am @Illuci: You have a very insightful way of seeing things, Illuci. Many thanks. martie from JapanBeautiful craftsmanship and beautiful capture of the image! Love this one. 11 Jan 2008 9:05am @martie: Such a kind comment. Many thanks, Martie. Thanks Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaAnother amazing compo...is it any wonder that you're getting such a following lol...and you're keeping up with the comments, now I'm impressed :) 11 Jan 2008 3:30pm @Lorraine: Thanks, Lorraine. I don't know about "following." I made a point of looking at blogs of many of the other new people and commenting if I liked their work. I found there are really good photographers who get few and sometimes no comments. Their work is simply hidden in the vast number of blogs. The many comments on my blog are simply the reciprocal comments. Many of these people are extremely good photographers. Reza from Montreal, CanadaGreat focus to show beautiful texture.
