Milky Way with Andromeda Galaxy (see arrow)

Posted by Michael Skorulski (Toronto, Canada) on 25 August 2016 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

Taken at a farm in Slovakia. Our galaxy has billions of stars. The oval smudge a little higher than the peak of the roof on the right edge of the photo is the Andromeda Galaxy (see arrow). It is the closest major galaxy to us, a mere 2.5 million light years. Spiral in shape, it is made of billions of stars.
